Almond Flour Keto Sausage Balls
One of the toughest things about dietary restrictions is managing them during parties, holidays or other events. It can be tricky for others to understand what you can or cannot eat and why. We have been gluten free for 13 years now and we still have family and friends that do not fully understand what gluten is. I am always on the hunt for easy, crowd pleasing recipes that work for lots of different restrictions. These Almond Flour Keto Sausage Balls are SO easy and fit the ticket perfectly!
Ingredients for Almond Flour Sausage Balls
- Sausage- plain, spicy or Italian sausage would all work well
- Cream cheese- regular or low fat will work fine
- Almond flour- I like Blue Diamond brand
- Ground flax meal- Bob’s Red Mill has a good option
- Baking powder
- Cheddar cheese- shredded
- Egg- beaten
How to make Sausage Balls with Almond Flour
First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Next, cook your sausage and set it aside so it can cool. After your sausage has cooled, add it to a mixing bowl with your cream cheese and mix until combined. Be sure that your sausage has cooled down before moving onto the next step, as you don’t want the egg to get too warm! Next, add your almond flour, flax meal, egg, baking powder and cheddar and stir. Grease a baking sheet and scoop sausage balls onto the sheet- I used a small cooking scoop. Bake 15-18 minutes and you’re all done!
Benefits of adding flax meal
Adding flax meal is a great way to add more fiber to our diet. When calculating the net carbs in a recipe, you subtract the amount of fiber from the total carbs, so more fiber = fewer net carbs! That leads these sausage balls to have just 0.2 net carbs per ball. If you don’t have flax meal, try this recipe for 5-ingredient Keto Sausage Balls! They are still low carb (0.8 net carbs each) and do not use flax meal.
How to Store Almond Flour Sausage Balls
If storing in the fridge, place your keto sausage balls in either a plastic bag or a container with an airtight lid. Store in the fridge for up to four days. To reheat, microwave in 15 second increments until your desired temperature is reached. If freezing, place in a freezer bag and store for up to one month. To reheat from frozen, either warm in air fryer for ten minutes or in the oven (at 350 degrees) for ten minutes.

Almond Flour Keto Sausage Balls (less than 1 net carb)
Ingredients
- 1 pound sausage cooked and drained (plain and spicy work well for this recipe)
- 4 ounces of cream cheese
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1/3 cup ground flax meal
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 egg beaten
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cook your breakfast sausage, drain and set it aside to cool slightly.
- When the sausage has cooled, add it to a mixing bowl and combine with the cream cheese until there are no cream cheese clumps left. **It is important to make sure the sausage is not too hot before continuing as it will cook the egg when you add it in the next step**
- Stir in the almond flour, flax meal, baking powder, shredded cheddar and egg.
- Grease a baking sheet and using a small cooking scoop place the sausage balls on the tray.
- Bake 15-18 minutes.
