Ingredients in Cheeseburger Soup
For this easy cheeseburger soup recipe, you’ll need the following basic ingredients: Scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the page for the complete list of ingredients and ingredient amounts.
- Protein: Ground beef and bacon
- Produce: tomatoes, onion, and garlic
- Spices: Garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, paprika
- Beef broth: for the best flavor be sure to choose a high quality broth. To better control sodium and flavor, we use a low sodium beef broth. You can always add more salt to taste if needed prior to serving.
- Tomato paste: We use a small amount of tomato paste to add an authentic cheeseburger flavor.
- Condiments: mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Similar to the tomato paste, these ingredients create a true cheeseburger flavor. Don’t worry, the mustard is not an overwhelming flavor.
- Cheddar cheese: For best results, grate your own cheese. However, pre-shredded will work fine, too.
- Cream cheese: this lends to the richness of the dish and makes the texture ultra creamy.

Can This Recipe Be Meal Prepped?
Yes, this keto cheeseburger soup is ideal for keto meal prep! It’s just as quick and easy to make a larger batch of this bacon cheeseburger soup and split it into portion sizes to last a few days.
Simply cook your soup and allow it to cool to room temperature before splitting into individual portion sizes and freezing or refrigerating (depending on when you plan to eat!). You can store this recipe in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
Can This Keto Soup Be Frozen?
Soup is always a great candidate for freezing, although different ingredients may require specific considerations.
For this low-carb cheeseburger soup, make sure to slightly undercook the vegetables if you know you will be freezing it. This is key if you want to avoid them becoming soggy when the soup is reheated. It’s also a smart idea to leave out the cheese until reheating to avoid it splitting or curdling in the freezer.
For the ultimate in convenience, you can freeze your soup in individual portion sizes. Not only does this avoid wastage, but it will also allow you to simply grab your soup and reheat it quickly and without fuss when you’re in a rush!
Tips for Making Keto Bacon Cheeseburger Soup
- Make sure to chop your vegetables nice and finely for enhanced taste and a more authentic ‘cheeseburger’ texture.
- For an irresistible smooth and creamy texture, take your cream cheese out of the refrigerator and let it warm to room temperature before adding it to your soup.
- Don’t forget your toppings! If you love to load your bowls of soup with fun toppings, you can add additional chopped bacon, shredded cheddar green onions, tomatoes, or pickles!
